Social media has been around for some time now and with more and more people joining the many social media platforms on a daily basis. It is also why social media has become a favored spot for marketers of different shapes and sizes to promote their content, products, and services.

And as any good marketer knows social media; be it Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or what have you, are nothing if content sharing does not drive them. One could even go as far as saying that the share button is the backbone of the entire social media operation. Knowing how to make other people click it on your posts will get you a long way in your social media marketing strategy.

With that said, here are some tips on how to get your video content shared on social media.

Keep them short.

Even though video content, by its very nature, is more easily consumed by your audience than text posts, this doesn’t mean that people want to see a full-length movie. Each social media platform has its optimal video length. Instagram videos should be around 30 seconds long, Twitter videos should be about 45 seconds, for Facebook at roughly one minute in length, and Youtube videos should be no longer than two minutes.

These were the maximum lengths of time observed to have the best results regarding engagement on each social platform. Just remember to insert your call-to-action (CTA) in the first 30 seconds, regardless of platforms, as a means of making sure that everyone sees it.

Repurpose blog posts.

If you’re reading this, the chances are that you are already writing blog posts on a regular basis. It this is the case, then you can repurpose some of those blog posts into short videos. Use Google Analytics or other such tools to track your best performers.

If that material did well in writing, it could also do great as a video. Don’t forget to give it a few touch-ups, if necessary, mainly if there were some other developments on the issue, in the meantime. Older videos can also be repurposed, mind you.

Monitor the competition.

It’s always useful to keep an eye on what your competition is doing right or wrong. For Facebook use Pages to Watch. For Twitter, consider Social Bearing, while for Instagram, go for its Explore feature as these will give you insights on what topics are favourite at that moment.

Go for quality videos.

We are all reasonably conscious of the fact that the video and audio quality has an important part to play when it comes to viewer engagement and share-ability. While you don’t have to break the bank to produce these videos, it’s advisable to either invest in some filming equipment or hire a team of professionals to help you out.
Video content is quickly becoming the norm regarding consumer internet traffic, meaning that competition will only grow fiercer as time goes on. What’s more, your audience may not be inclined to watch your videos if they are not of a high enough quality.

In short, social media and video content work exceptionally well together. If you are not already on this train, you are missing out. By investing in video content and using these simple tips above, you can go a long way.
